For many years now, iFan as well as the technology world have expected Apple to change the design for the iPhone, especially about the "rabbit ears". This year, the iPhone 13 series will have a smaller "notch". But recently, a patent granted to Apple shows that Cupertino engineers can eliminate the "notch" by placing the selfie camera and Face ID sensor below the screen of the next-generation iPhone.

The idea of an under-display Face ID camera and sensor system is not new, many rumors suggest that this technology could come to future iPhones, possibly the iPhone 14. But this new patent is well worth it. Note the detailed description of the “adjustable screen windows”.

Specifically, the patent describes a display that will have some form of window that can be opened by a mechanism to reveal "optical elements" without being obstructed by the screen.

This system is able to avoid the shortcomings of current under-screen cameras - effectively scanning the screen but still not delivering impressive results. The ZTE Axon 20 5G is an example. In fact, using the window screen approach is an evolution of the pop-up selfie camera seen in the previous OnePlus 7 Pro.

The problem is that the components that make up this system can increase the thickness of the phone and make the smartphone more susceptible to damage. But even if Apple can create a powerful system, they are far from appearing on the iPhone.

According to the report, the iPhone 13 may have a smaller "notch", which is not expected to have an in-display fingerprint scanner. So, if Apple equips the next iPhone with an under-display Face ID system, this will shock the technology world.

The hope is that by the time the iPhone 14 arrives, "Apple House" will have made more progress in shrinking or completely eliminating the "rabbit ears" on the screen. iPhone 12 has a great OLED screen but the "rabbit ears", by 2021 standards are too old and ingrained in the experience of using the screen.

Although the public will have to wait for Apple for a long time to see iPhones without "notch", but iPhone 13 with 120Hz screen, larger battery, new A15 Bionic chip and improved camera is still very expected.
